Litija, the Town of Innovativeness
Litija, the Town of Innovativeness is a project which in 2006 helped the Development Centre of the Heart of Slovenia prove that new programmes present an opportunity for every single inhabitant of the municipality of Litija and its area. The purpose of the project is to connect and motivate innovative potentials within the local community in the field of education, entrepreneurship, tourism, media as well as civil society, and to identify specific development opportunities. The vision of the project is to develop an effective business model for a successful, innovative development of local communities.
The programme of innovative local community was developed, established and promoted by the Development Centre of the Heart of Slovenia in cooperation with the broader InCo Movement. Through this movement, the story of Litija as an innovative town which grows with ideas of its inhabitants has raised attention in Slovenia, as well as across its boarders.

Cooperation with primary schools in Litija and Litija Grammar School was especially important and effective in the development of this project. In association with the schools, the Development Centre of the Heart of Slovenia carried out numerous workshops and meetings with the youth, pupils and teachers of primary schools, students of the grammar school, entrepreneurs, media and other agents who can influence the proportional development of the local community. With this project the Development Centre of the Heart of Slovenia persistently expands entrepreneurial behaviour among youth. Within the scope of the project, the centre implemented 18 workshops and events with this theme and presented the project in 8 conferences.
